Product Description
Residential and Commercial Ultraviolet UV Water Sterilizer Water Purifiers
Residential and Commercial Ultraviolet Water Sterilizer Systems are specifically designed to meet the demanding microorganism control. These microorganisms can range from bacteria and viruses to algae and protozoa. A major advantage of UVC germicidal treatment is that it is capable of disinfecting water faster than chlorine without cumbersome retention tanks and harmful chemicals to your drinking water.
Advantages:
No chemicals added to the water supply - no byproducts, (i.e. chlorine + organics = trihalomethanes).
Environmentally and user friendly, no dangerous chemicals to handle or store, no risks of overdosing.
Easy installation, only two water connections and a power connection.
No change in taste, odor, pH or conductivity nor the general chemistry of the water.
More effective against viruses than chlorine.
Extremely economical, hundreds of gallons may be treated for each penny of operating cost.
Immediate treatment process, no need for holding tanks, long retention times, etc.
Automatic operation without special attention or measurement, operator friendly.
Simplicity and ease of maintenance, periodic cleaning, (if applicable), and annual lamp replacement, no moving parts to wear out.
No handling of toxic chemicals, no need for specialized storage requirements.
Low initial capital cost as well as reduced operating expenses when compared with similar technologies such as ozone, chlorine, etc.
UV Disinfection Systems Application
1. Sterilization of domestic water, secondary water supply, direct drinking water, purified water and mineral water plant;
2. Sterilization of swimming pools, landscape water and circulating cooling water;
3. Sterilization of industrial water such as in food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry, etc.;
4. Sterilization before sewage discharge;
5. Sterilization of aquatic products and aquatic breeding industry;
Principle of Operation
Ultraviolet disinfection systems typically utilize thin cylindrical bulbs capable of generating narrow band wavelength UV light in the 254 nm range, placed in close proximity to high-purity glass tubes through which the water flows. The unit must be sized to provide adequate dosage at the specified flowrate. The water to be treated must be sufficiently free of turbidity (sediment), iron, manganese and any colorant that could affect transmission of the 254 nm UV light. Manufacturers' specifications should be consulted.

Q. Does the water have to sit in the UV sterilizer to be disinfected?
A. No. If the system is sized correctly, the water is disinfected as it flows through.
Q. What if the water flows faster than is allowed through the system?
A. If the flow rate exceeds the design flow rate of the UV sterilizer, then there is a possibility that the water will not be properly disinfected. It is important to use a flow restrictor so that the flow rate cannot be exceeded.
Q. How long does the lamp last?
A. The lamps last approximately 10,000 hours. That is why we recommend replacement approximately every 12 - 14 months of continuous operation. After this period, the lamp itself becomes solarized and blocks the rays form entering the water.
Q. Are these systems bigger energy users?
A. No. The 12 gallon per minute model, for instance uses only 39 watts, about half the amount an ordinary light bulb uses.
Q. My water is sometimes cloudy. Is that a problem?
A. Yes. The water that enters the ultraviolet sterilizer must be absolutely clear and have a turbidity of less than 1 NTU. If your water is cloudy, then it must be pretreated.
